The purpose of masks is more for those with the virus to prevent the spread, not to prevent you from getting it.
Keep abreast of CDC warnings and advisories. The CDC updates this information frequently with a rank level which ranks low risks at 1, and high risks at 4, the highest level. For Italy which has been experiencing outbreaks, the threat level is now level 2. Travelers should avoid travel if possible, avoid contact with sick people, and wash their hands often.
